Childrens Ministry

Sunday School

Good Shepherd’s Sunday morning children’s programming meets from 10:10-10:50am on Sundays during the school year.

Little Lambs, Preschool, & Pre-Kindergarten– (starting at age 2 as of August 1st) Classes enjoy a play based curriculum aimed at introducing our youngest children to Jesus, God’s Love, and bible stories.

K-5th Grades-  meet on the lower level. In their classrooms, kids will explore the bible in a variety of ways, all aimed at introducing building blocks of faith, the love of God, and ways to embody being a follower of Christ in the world.

SHiNE - Wednesdays 2nd-5th Graders

Wednesdays – 5:15-7:30 pm

SHiNE is our mid-week faith, fun, and fellowship program.  It’s goal is to help our youth develop and nurture positive relationships with God, peers, and adults.  At SHiNE we strive to help our young people understand that they are awesome children of God with unique gifts to share.  SHiNE meets in two twelve-week sessions, the first one in the fall and the second one in the winter/spring.

SHiNE includes music, recreation time, service projects, and dinner with all Wednesday night youth groups, and faith formation.

*This is a volunteer supported program. Parent participation is essential in making these programs possible. As part of registration, each family is asked to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours.

Faith Milestones

Through these age-level milestone events, we partner with parents to learn, grow, and then to celebrate these events.  Following is a listing of the Faith Milestone Events:

Little Lambs Bible Faith Milestone – As our youngest learners begin Sunday School, they receive a Children’s Bible from their parents as a reminder of the baptismal promise of “putting God’s word into the hands of their children.”

Kindergarten Milestone – Our Kindergarten Sunday School children are presented with an intermediate story bible during service.

First Communion Faith Milestone – Children ready to receive their first communion, or children ready to learn more about this sacrament, will meet for three weeks along with a parent.  Each week provides opportunities to dig into bible stories, the history of this sacrament, and share stories.  First Communion is celebrated in worship following the three week series.

Second Grade Small Catechism / Lord’s Prayer Faith Milestone – Our second graders and their parents are introduced to the Small Cat (children’s version of Luther’s Small Catechism) with a special emphasis on The Lord’s Prayer.

Third Grade “Books of the Bible” Faith Milestone – Our third grade families spend four Sunday morning classes walking through the bible, learning a key verse from each book.
