Robin immediately became involved in multiple small groups at Good Shepherd. She keeps the Sunday Morning Bible Study calendar organized, and helps lead the All Anew Women’s Bible Study. She is an active member of both the Handbell Choir and Tone Chimes, and helps supply greeting cards through Project Boomerang for Veterans Overseas, the Fisher House and various nursing homes. And when the regulars for the Cups Ministry are unavailable, Robin assures, “I can load the dishwasher.”
After Richard passed away suddenly, the members of Good Shepherd surrounded Robin with love and support, and she commented how “the church was safe ground… people were there for me when I needed them.” When Pastor Rich decided to restart a Stephen Ministry program at GSLC, Robin felt called that was something she should do as she understood the impact people can feel from loss. She was happy to be available for others and over the last 9 years, Robin has done a wonderful job to apply the training she received to help her care receivers through their journey of grief. As of late, Robin has volunteered to coordinate the Continuing Education for the group. She commented, “I believe that God gives everyone gifts to help others, and I thought this could be one of mine. I have drawn on many people and over my time as Continuing Education facilitator, and I appreciate all of them. It is not a one-person task.”
Good Shepherd is blessed by the many ways Robin shares her love for the Lord with others, especially through the Stephen Ministry program. If you would like more information on receiving care from a Stephen Minister, or to become a trained Stephen Minister please reach out to one of the pastors. Thanks to the generosity of Good Shepherd, the ongoing training of Stephen Ministers continues, developing their spiritual gifts so they can bring the healing presence of Jesus to those within our faith community and beyond.
